Out of the three, the most preferred by competitive players is the feathered one. Plastic shuttlecocks are used mainly by recreational, beginner, or lower-level players.
Feathered shuttlecocks are the type used mainly by intermediate to professional players. Compared to synthetic shuttlecocks, they are much easier to control. Feathered shuttlecocks are made from goose or duck feathers, with elite players favoring goose. While professional players like this type, it is not recommended for beginners. This is because beginner players do not have great technique and timing yet. If they use feather shuttlecocks, they will easily break the feathers since this type of shuttlecock has low durability.
