Introduction
While your bag does not impact your on court play, it is still a really important part of your badminton or tennis experience. Think about it, your bag is what protects all your gear, clothes, and accessories. It’s what you have to carry around with you and what people will see you with. Depending on your own unique situation, you’ll want to select the bag that fits your specific needs – whether that means getting a light and compact backpack or a large and heavy duty professional bag.
If you end up selecting your bag correctly, you’ll likely be using it for many years to come. I personally used my first bag for more than 10 YEARS. That’s a long time. So you’ll want to pick one carefully that you like and fits your needs, potentially saving quite a bit of money in the long run.
In this particular post, we’ll be discussing Yonex bags. This includes both badminton and tennis bags since they are, in fact, the same. So don’t get confused with titles on the product pages of external websites that only show the bag for tennis or badminton, there is no distinction between Yonex bags for badminton and tennis!

Bag Features
Yonex bags offer an array of features. Some bags offer many of them while others are more basic and simple. Here, we’ll list out the possible features and what they mean.
Available as a Backpack
The Available as a Backpack feature means that you can carry the bag like a backpack – with 2 shoulder straps that support the bag on your back. This feature makes it easy and convenient for you to carry the bag around if you have to walk around with it frequently.
Thermo Guard
The Thermo Guard feature is a premium Yonex feature that provides an insulated lining inside a compartment of your bag. This is used to protect your racquets from big temperature changes – whether that is cold or hot weather. The reason why you would want to keep your racquets insulated is because the strings can become brittle and easier to break if exposed to high or low temperatures. Protecting strings is really important for professionals as every point is precious and it would be terrible to lose an important match due to brittle strings. On the other hand, this isn’t really necessary for amateurs as the stakes are not high. This is why the thermo guard feature is only included in the 2 top end bags – the Pro Racquet Bag (9 PCS) and Pro Racquet Bag (12 PCS).
Easy Port Shape
The Easy Port Shape feature refers to the bag shape you see on the Pro and Active Racquet Bags near the shoulder. It reduces the burden and weight on your shoulders to make it easier to carry heavier loads.
Adjustable Buckle
The Adjustable Buckle feature allows your buckles to rotate left and right depending on where your shoulder straps are. Without this feature, your straps would strain against your buckle if the angle of your straps are not aligned with your shoulders, making it more difficult to carry and more susceptible to wear and tear.
Reflector
The Reflector feature makes bags easily visible with a little bit of light. This is useful for when you are walking with your bag in situations that have little light, such as when walking at night in places with cars.
Chest Belt
The Chest Belt feature is a strap that connects your shoulder straps together to help prevent your shoulder straps from slipping to the sides. This is useful when you are carrying heavy loads and need extra support.
Water Bottle Pocket
The Water Bottle Pocket is a dedicated pocket for your water bottle just like you see on regular backpacks. It can hold a small to medium sized water bottle.
Shoe Pocket
The Shoe Pocket is a dedicated pocket for your shoes which usually contains ventilation holes to keep air flowing through it. It’s great to have a dedicated pocket for your shoes since your shoes are often smelly and sweaty after playing and you don’t want to mix them with your other gear.
Other Bag Considerations
Dimensions
Before purchasing a bag, you should carefully consider your unique situation to identify use cases and situation. Depending on how frequent you use it, how much walking you’ll do with it, and how much gear you want to carry with you, your ideal bag dimensions would be very different.
In the descriptions below, I note down the dimensions of the bags in both inches and centimeters and are given in length, width, and height of the bag. Each bag size may vary based on a different dimension so pay attention to them when comparing them to each other. For example, for Racquet Bags, the main difference between them is their width while for the Backpacks it is their height.
Color
Color is all about preference and style. Each of the bags come in a variety of colors and styles so make sure to take a look at all of them to choose the one you like the best.
Yonex Bag Products
Yonex offers bags in 3 different lines:
- Pro Series
- Active Series
- Team Series
The Pro Series, as its name suggests, is designed for professionals and contains heavy duty bags and the most high end technology, such as the thermo guard feature. The bags are of the highest quality but also come at the highest price point. I would recommend a bag in this series if you are a professional, planning to be a professional, or a serious amateur who plays very frequently.
The ActiveSeries is designed for the majority of amateurs who play fairly frequently but don’t need as much space and high-end technology as the professionals. The price range for the Active Series is between that of the Pro and Team Series. I would recommend a bag from the Active Series to the majority of players as the bags in this series provide the most value for your money.
The Team Series is designed for those who either play infrequently or only for short bursts – such as during a particular sport season as seen in school environments. The bags in the Team Series are the most basic with the fewest features but are also the most affordable. I would recommend a bag from the Team Series if you are just starting out and are hesitant to commit to a more serious bag or do not plan to play frequently.
Here’s a quick overview of the different features that the bags have:

Without further ado, let’s get into the products!
PRO RACQUET BAG (6 PCS)
The Pro Racquet Bag (6 PCS) is your standard racquet bag that can be worn like a backpack and is designed to hold up to 6 rackets. It contains 2 spacious main compartments – which can be used to store racquets, clothes and anything else. It also has a dedicated shoe pocket that sticks into the clothes compartment but does not connect to it. Lastly, it has a small side pocket where you can place accessories like keys or grips.
Pro Racquet Bag (9 PCS)
The Pro Racquet Bag (9 PCS) is quite similar to the Pro Racquet Bag (6 PCS) but with 2 main differences.
The first is that it is wider with 3 main compartments and is designed to fit up to 9 racquets.
The second difference is that it includes the new thermo guard technology in one of the main compartments to help protect your racquet strings from the heat or cold. This is a great feature for professionals who travel frequently since strings become more brittle and easier to break when exposed to the heat or cold as temperatures can vary on planes and at different locations.

Pro Racquet Bag (12 PCS)
The Pro Racquet Bag (12 PCS) is the top of the line “Racquet Bag” style of bag. It is very similar to the Pro Racquet Bag (9 PCS) but is even wider as it is designed to store up to 12 racquets. Furthermore, it contains 2 thermo guarded compartments instead of just 1 as the Pro Racquet Bag (9 PCS) has.
Pro Tournament Bag
The Pro Tournament Bag is a sturdy rectangular bag that contains 1 large main compartment, 1 medium sized compartment, and 1 small accessories compartment. Unlike the Racquet Bags, the Pro Tournament Bag cannot be carried like a backpack, but more like a suitcase, and is more compact. It can carry 3 to 4 racquets.
Pro Trolley Bag
The Pro Trolley Bag is a heavy duty bag which has a very spacious main compartment, a small compartment on top, and an accessories compartment on the side. Unlike all of the other bags, the trolley bag has wheels on it, making it like a luggage that is easily rolled around. It can fit around 4 racquets in it along with other equipment and clothes. This makes it ideal for traveling if you want a bag to hold your sports and personal gear together in one place.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 31.5 x 14.2 x 13.4 in 80 x 36.1 x 34 cm |

Pro Two-Way Duffle Bag
The Pro Two-Way Duffle Bag is similar to the tournament bags in how it looks and has a very spacious main compartment. Besides its main compartment, it has a small accessories compartment in the front and another one on its side. Its name has Two-Way in it because you can hold it in 2 different ways – with its handles like a suitcase, or hang it from your shoulder with its single shoulder strap.
Pro Stand Bag
The Pro Stand Bag is the most heavy duty of all the Yonex bags. It is designed to stand up vertically by itself and has 3 compartments along its center where you can organize all of your belongings as if they were drawers. It has 2 sizeable compartments on its sides where you can store up to 3 racquets each (6 in total). This bag is for serious players who play long sessions at a time. You’ll likely put lots of gear in the bag so expect it to be heavy to bring around. It does come with backpack straps though so that you can carry it around using both your shoulders.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 15 x 13 x 29.9 in 38 x 33 x 76 cm |

Pro Backpack M
The Pro Backpack M (for medium) is part of a series of backpacks – where the other options are the small, large, and full size versions. The backpacks are great for those who want something compact and easily carried but aren’t as spacious as the other bags. This particular bag has a dedicated shoe compartment at the bottom of the bag, a medium sized front pocket, and a main compartment that can hold 1 to 2 racquets. Note that this backpack is not tall enough to fit the entire length of a racquet inside it, so the racquet handles will be sticking out.

Active Racquet Bag (6 PCS)
The Active Racquet Bag is a slightly smaller version of the Pro Racquet Bag (6 PCS), but has similar features, such as the 2 spacious main compartments, dedicated shoe pocket, and accessories pocket. Besides its size, the other difference between this and the Pro Racquet Bag (6 PCS) is that this does not have an adjustable buckle. Overall, this bag should be more than adequate for the amateur player as it contains all of the essentials.

Active Two-Way Tournament Bag

It has Two-Way in its name because it can be held 2 different ways – by its handles like a suitcase, or by its straps like a backpack. Unlike the Pro Tournament Bag, it has 2 main compartments (instead of 1) which can hold 2 to 3 racquets each (4 to 6 in total). It has a small accessories pocket in the front and a dedicated shoe pocket on the side.

It has a racquet compartment in the back that can hold 2 unsleeved racquets with the handles sticking out, a main compartment in front of that for your clothes and other items, and a small accessories compartment in front of that. It has a dedicated shoe compartment at its base and a water bottle pocket on its side.
Active Backpack L
The Active Backpack L (large) is simply a larger version of the Active Backpack S as it is a bit wider and taller. It has all of the same features as the Active Backpack S.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 12.2 x 8.6 x 22 in 31 x 22 x 56 cm |
Yumo Pro Shop | Black/Yellow |
Active Racquet Backpack
Author’s Choice: The Active Racquet Backpack is the full size version of the Active Backpack L and Active Backpack S. It has a racquet compartment at the back that is tall enough to hold the full length of a racquet (which the non-full size version cannot) and can hold 3 to 4 racquets. Its main compartment is at the front of the bag and is much more spacious than the other backpacks’ main compartments. The main compartment has a special divider that you can lift up to separate the top and bottom from each other if you would like. Lastly, it has a small accessories pocket. Note that unlike the other backpacks, the Active Racquet Backpack does not have a water bottle holder.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 12.2 x 7.9 x 28.3 31 x 20 x 72 cm |

Team Racquet Bag (3 PCS)
The Team Racquet Bag (3 PCS) is the most basic bag that Yonex has to offer. It has a single compartment that can fit up to 3 racquets. That’s it, but it can certainly be all you need for playing casual badminton or tennis. Unlike the Pro and Active series Racquet Bags, the Team Racquet Bags do not have the Easy Port Shape feature.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 29.5 x 3.9 x 13.8 in 75 x 10 x 35 cm |

Team Racquet Bag (6 PCS)
The Team Racquet Bag (6 PCS) is an upgraded version of its 3 PCS counterpart. It is twice as wide and thus can hold double the number of racquets that the 3 PCS version can hold. It has 2 main compartments (which can hold 3 racquets each) and a small accessories compartment in the front.
Team Tournament Bag
The Team Tournament Bag is the smallest and most affordable of the tournament bags. It still has a spacious main compartment that can fit 3 to 4 racquets and an accessories pocket at the front. Unlike the Pro Tournament Bag, it has a dedicated shoe pocket on the side.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 29.5 x 5.1 x 11.8 in 74.9 x 13 x 30 cm |

Team Racquet Backpack
The Team Racquet Backpack is comparable to the Active Racquet Backpack in size and can also fit the entire length of a racquet inside it so the handle is not sticking out. The bag features a dedicated shoe compartment at its base with 2 ventilator holes, a spacious main compartment in the middle, an accessories pocket at the top, and a deep pocket for racquets at the very top.
Dimensions (length x width x height) | 13 x 7.9 x 28.3 in 33 x 20 x 72 cm |

Team Backpack S
The Team Backpack S is the smallest bag in terms of volume that Yonex offers. It is very compact and offers 1 main padded compartment that can fit 1 to 2 unsleeved racquets with the handles sticking out. Its middle compartment is slightly smaller and can be used to store clothes and grips. The front pocket is dedicated for shoes and has 2 ventilator holes at the bottom. Lastly, the backpack also comes with a waterbottle pocket on the side.
